We are pleased to present to you our second catalogue offering new and dear items. During the Fall harvest season,
while preparing this catalogue, we reminisced about the joys of this last summer. Many of the highlights include
meeting new and old friends at one of our stores, at the Open Air Ethnographic Museum annual crafts festival, and
at the Latvian Song Festival in Canada – where hearts were touched by your smiles and hospitality, as well as by our
sun-symbol decorations floating above the dancers during the closing event. |

The first designs of this collection was made in April 2008 by Inita Straupe, it contains different themes – from motifs of flowers observed in nature and stones from the seaside, to embroidery patterns in Talsi* plaid. By choosing items from this collection, 15% of your purchase will be donated to Zvannieki house. Zvannieki is not a typical children’s home. The organization functions as a family with a team of dedicated and trained volunteers, who care for abandoned children as they would their own. The program provides practical skills as well as a stable home and family environment. Zvannieki gives these children the opportunity to love and be loved, and to learn how to care for others. There are no “teachers” or “counselors”; Zvannieki residents interact as mums, dads, grandparents, brothers and sisters, etc… The collection was nominated to Latvian Design Award 2009, and artist took part in Latvian Design Award Exibition.

The Sun is a dominant motif in our jewelry – brooches, pendants, bracelets and rings. The Sun’s natural cycle was important in the life of our ancestors. Evidence of this is present in the vast collection of Latvian Sun folksongs as well as solstice celebrations and their connection to life, fertility and harvest cycles. |
